Rudgeway Treehouse
This project was unique in many ways. The site is incredibly steep with only a dusty layer of soil over hard rock meaning to create a level site would involve either massive breaking out of rock (and retaining walls to hold up the hill above) or, as we designed, a concrete pad on stilts, floating above the ground.
The project is also located in the greenbelt, outside of any settlement boundary, so we had to make a strong argument about infilling but also about the uniqueness of the design and it’s appropriateness for its location in the middle of the woods.
Planning was granted and the works are now on site.
